Baseball Recap: Dayton Comes Up Short

Dayton extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 15-11. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spring Creek Spartans. The Dust Devils were not able to make up for their defeat to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

Dayton saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Duke Evans, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Michael Reitman, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Spring Creek, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

On Spring Creek's side, Logan Payne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hudson Sorenson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Maddox Madigan was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Spring Creek beat Dayton by a score of 4-3 on Saturday.
