Soccer Recap: Douglas Byrd Comes Up Short

Douglas Byrd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against the Gray's Creek Bears, falling 11-0. While losing is never fun, Douglas Byrd can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 472nd, while Gray's Creek are ranked 165th).

Douglas Byrd's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Gray's Creek, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Douglas Byrd and Gray's Creek will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Eagles see the pitch they'll take on Seventy-First at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Gray's Creek, their break will end when they face Union Pines at 7:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
