Football Game Preview: Nokomis Redskins vs. Tuscola Warriors

The Nokomis Redskins will square off against the Tuscola Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Nokomis put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Arcola 63-21. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won three matchups by 42 points or more so far this season.

Nolan Herpstreith produced another solid effort rushing for 123 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run. Kannon Jonas was another key player, throwing for 177 yards and three touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Nokomis was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Nokomis' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Nicholas Huston, Kalasandra Cook, and Izaak Doyen, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Tuscola, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 38-28 victory over LeRoy on Friday.

Tuscola pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.5 points on average over those games. As for Nokomis, their record now sits at 6-3.
