Basketball Game Preview: Community Charter Titans vs. Triumph Charter Jaguars

Having just played yesterday, the Community Charter Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Triumph Charter Jaguars at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Community Charter is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Reseda on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Community Charter was dealt a 104-28 loss at the hands of Reseda. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1423rd, while the Regents are ranked 694th).

Despite the defeat, Community Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Edem Ladzepko went 8 for 11 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and five blocks. Ladzepko's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Justin Mendez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Triumph Charter on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Bert Corona Charter out of the water with a 78-28 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Jaguars had established a 40 point advantage.

Triumph Charter is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Community Charter, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Community Charter was taken down by Triumph Charter 83-23 in their previous meeting last Monday. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Community Charter was down 48-13.
