Basketball Recap: Travis Babers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ridgeview Global Studies Academy over Frostproof

The Ridgeview Global Studies Academy Explorers lost 65-44 to the Frostproof Bulldogs on Thursday. The Explorers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ridgeview Global Studies Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Travis Babers, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Lopez-Vergel, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Leading Frostproof to victory were Mekhi Guillaume and Tycen Hendrix. Guillaume went 9 of 13 on his way to 21 points and four steals, while Hendrix went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Guillaume is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. T J Cobb was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Ridgeview Global Studies Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Frostproof, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Tenoroc the next time they take the court. Ridgeview Global Studies Academy will head out to face Tenoroc at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, while Frostproof will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
