The Gators took a 21-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs last Friday. Despite 65 more yards than the Mustangs, the Gators couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Chance Houston and Cayden Thomas. Thomas had a great game and rushed for 59 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. Meanwhile, Houston did his best for the losing side, throwing for 263 yards and two TDs, while also rushing for 40 yards.
Land O' Lakes' loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Sunlake, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.
Sunlake took a serious blow against Land O' Lakes in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 56-21. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Houston, who threw for 245 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 60 yards and one score.
