Softball Recap: South Brunswick Snags 12th Win in Last 13 Games

It's playoff time, and South Brunswick had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Union Pines Vikings 7-1 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kina Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lily Knox, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Savana Burgess, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

South Brunswick is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Union Pines, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-10.

Looking ahead, South Brunswick will take on South Central on Tuesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. Union Pines does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
