Softball Recap: Nine Straight Home Victories for Lakewood

Lakewood lost to Licking Heights back in March of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Lancers came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 11-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

Averie Adams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Adams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lakewood let Anna Crist and Cora Redman run wild. Crist went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Redman went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jaycie Montie, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Lakewood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Lakewood pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Licking Heights, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood will challenge Highland at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Licking Heights, they will square off against Granville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
