Softball Recap: Van Buren Takes a Loss

After flying high against Vanlue on Monday, Van Buren came back down to earth. The Black Knights took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elmwood Royals on Wednesday. The Black Knights were not able to make up for their loss to the Royals from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Van Buren's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Elmwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Van Buren will take on Pandora-Gilboa at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.5 runs per game on average), something the Black Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Elmwood, they will face off against Whitmer at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Royals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
