Baseball Recap: Belpre's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Belpre came into Tuesday's match having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Alexander Spartans on Tuesday.

Chris Copen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has become a key player for Belpre: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 3-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on AJ Copen, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Belpre is 2-1 when Copen posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-10 otherwise. Carson Moore was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Belpre hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alexander struck out 12 times.

Belpre's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Alexander, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Belpre will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
