Baseball Recap: East Hartford Hornets vs. New Britain Golden Hurricanes
East Hartford lost against New Britain back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Hornets took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Hurricanes. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Issac Quiles was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Preston Diaz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season.
East Hartford's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for New Britain, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Hartford will venture away from home to square off against Northwest Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for New Britain, they will head out to take on Farmington at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
