Softball Game Preview: Taft Wildcats vs. Delano Tigers

Taft has gone a perfect 5-0 against Delano recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Taft is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Taft's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over McFarland. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

The result came thanks to Rilynne Stenderup's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Jaycee Edgar was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs. Rylee Owens was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Delano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 16-4 to McFarland.

Delano saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dezarae Pimentel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Delano's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18-1. As for Taft, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Delano's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Taft hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. It's a different story for Delano, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain Taft's hitters?

Everything went Taft's way against Delano in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Taft made off with a 12-0 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
