South View and Gray's Creek are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Tigers will take on the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South View 2.3, Gray's Creek 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Gray's Creek will be up against a hot South View squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Tigers came out on top against Cape Fear by a score of 7-2 on Thursday.

JORDYNN PARNELL made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on DESTINY SHOULARS, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. MADDY CLARK was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Gray's Creek came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 12-4 win. Considering the Bears have won 14 contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like South View, Gray's Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Hannah Welsh. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Welsh was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Amariya Green was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Gray's Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in four consecutive games.
Gray's Creek's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2. As for South View, their record is now 16-5.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. South View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Gray's Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South View was able to grind out a solid win over Gray's Creek in their previous meeting back in April, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
