Basketball Game Preview: Georgetown Bulldogs vs. Waccamaw Warriors

The Georgetown Bulldogs will take on the Waccamaw Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Georgetown blew past Hanahan, posting a 76-35 win. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Hawks are ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jari Ford went supernova for Georgetown, putting up 21 points. That's the most points Ford has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amos Jones, who posted 13 points in addition to seven assists and six boards.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Waccamaw against Johnsonville on Wednesday as the squad secured a 72-37 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Waccamaw is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Georgetown, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Georgetown barely slipped by Waccamaw in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 47-46. Will Georgetown repeat their success, or does Waccamaw have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
