Recap: Portal Panthers vs. McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers
On Friday, The Portal Panthers got themselves on the board against the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers, but the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers never followed suit. They blew past the Buccaneers 27-0 on the road. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Portal had established a 20 point advantage.
Elijah Coleman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 213 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Coleman was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards. Amir Jackson also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Portal has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for McIntosh County Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Portal will be playing in front of their home fans against Jenkins County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Jenkins County sitting on nine straight victories and Portal on three. McIntosh County Academy will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Clinch County at 7:30 p.m. on November 10th. One thing working in Clinch County's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five games.
