Edina proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 12) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Wayzata Trojans. Winning may never get old, but the Hornets sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Quinlan Cronin looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Edina got a massive performance out of Chase Bjorgaard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bode McConnell, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Edina's win bumped their record up to 4-2-1. As for Wayzata, their loss ended a 16-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edina will venture away from home to challenge Robbinsdale Armstrong at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wayzata, they will head out to take on Minnetonka at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
