Basketball Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas' Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

After flying high against Schoolhouse Prep on Friday, St. Thomas Aquinas came back down to earth. The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders lost to the Winter Haven Blue Devils on the road by a 65-47 margin on Saturday. The Raiders' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

St. Thomas Aquinas' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sara Lee Blair, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Those 17 points gave Blair a new career-high. Another player making a difference was London Thomas, who posted 22 points and five boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Winter Haven to victory, but perhaps none more so than Serenity Hardy, who went 11 for 25 on her way to 27 points and five rebounds. Hardy's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Quin?Nya Gray De Sanders was another key player, going 8 of 13 en route to 18 points and five steals.

St. Thomas Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Winter Haven, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.

St. Thomas Aquinas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-30 win against Pembroke Pines Charter on the 21st. As for Winter Haven, they will welcome Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
