Football Recap: Morgan County Takes Down Miller Grove in a Playoff Battle + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Morgan County had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 49-28 margin over the Miller Grove Wolverines. Fans of the Bulldogs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Morgan County had a senior duo take command as Davis Strickland threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes and Christian Monfort gained 140 total yards. Monfort is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

Morgan County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 208 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miller Grove only rushed for 105.

Miller Grove lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Thomas Winston, who threw for 212 yards and a pair of TDs. Miller Grove also got a significant boost from Frank Johnson Jr., who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.

The win keeps Morgan County at an undefeated 12-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 47.1 points this season. As for Miller Grove, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.

Looking ahead, Morgan County will face off against Hapeville Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 900 yards in their previous games. Miller Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
