Softball Recap: Auburn Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Auburn owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Springfield Senators. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 5-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Meena Taylor made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Taylor was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Taylor wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Wheatley, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Auburn's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Springfield, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.

Coming up, Auburn will challenge Olympia at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Springfield, they will square off against Decatur Eisenhower at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.8 runs per game on average), something the Senators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
