Softball Recap: Brockway Wins Going Away Against Elk County Catholic

Brockway hadn't done well against Elk County Catholic recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Rovers blew past the Crusaders 18-3. Considering the Rovers have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bailee Carberry looked comfortable as she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Rheanna Spinda was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elysabeth Myers, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Brockway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Brockway's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Elk County Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brockway will venture away from home to face off against Brookville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Elk County Catholic, they will face off against Kane at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
