Volleyball Recap: Fontbonne Academy Takes a Loss

Fontbonne Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the Ursuline Academy Bears. The Ducks were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

While Fontbonne Academy ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 25-18.

Emma Jolley paced Fontbonne Academy's offense, picking up 14 kills. Jolley got some help from Tayla Jiang and her 29 assists. Emma Woo controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Fontbonne Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ursuline Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Fontbonne Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Malden Catholic on the 12th. As for Ursuline Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Maimonides at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
