Basketball Recap: Hamilton Takes a Loss

Hamilton lost against Russellville last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Hamilton Aggies took a hard 94-77 fall against the Russellville Golden Tigers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (63), the Aggies still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Hamilton still got an impressive performance from Kel Battle, who went 6 for 15 to rack up 19 points. Battle's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Spencer Tyra was another key player, putting up 11 points.

EJ King continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Russellville, earning 40 points. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which King has scored at least a third of Russellville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Phinizee, who posted 16 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Hamilton and nudges their season record down to 9-17. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points over those games. As for Russellville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Hamilton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 97-51 victory against Lamar County on the 28th. As for Russellville, they have also already played their next contest, a 79-60 defeat against Austin on the 28th.
