Football Recap: Channel Islands Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Channel Islands unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 27-0 defeat at the hands of the Viewpoint Patriots on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

Magnus Merriman was a one-man wrecking crew For Viewpoint. as he threw for 246 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, and also punched in one score on the ground. Those 246 passing yards gave Merriman a new career-high. Shane Anderson was Merriman's top target, picking up 101 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Channel Islands will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hueneme at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Viewpoint, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Del Sol at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
