Basketball Recap: Kaden Bauer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead River Ridge over East Dubuque

River Ridge lost against East Dubuque back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The River Ridge Wildcats lost 61-36 to the East Dubuque Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 458th, while the Warriors are ranked 189th).

River Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaden Bauer, who posted seven points. That's the most points Bauer has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Rife, who scored eight points.

River Ridge's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-14. As for East Dubuque, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

River Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. River Ridge is facing West Carroll at the right time seeing as West Carroll is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for East Dubuque, they will head out on the road to square off against Yorkville Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Dubuque is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
