Baseball Game Preview: Sandwich Indians vs. Mendota Trojans

The Sandwich Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Mendota Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mendota took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Sandwich, who comes in off a win.

While Sandwich's win against Serena wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians' pitcher stepped up to hand the Huskers a 1-0 shutout on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Huskers: they've now won four in a row.

The result came thanks to Arlo Budd's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Mendota's offense. They lost 9-0 to Erie-Prophetstown on Monday. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sandwich's win bumped their record up to 16-14. As for Mendota, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15-1.

Sandwich came up short against Mendota when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 13-9. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
