Basketball Recap: Hibriten Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Hibriten challenged Alexander Central on Tuesday. The Hibriten Panthers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the Alexander Central Cougars. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 63-57.

Hibriten's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karlee Starnes, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Zoe Rector, who scored nine points and eight boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alexander Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Faith Burch, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. Those 17 points gave Burch a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Malayah Adams, who had 15 points.

Hibriten dropped their record down to 13-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Alexander Central, their victory bumped their record up to 14-9.

Hibriten didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-61 loss against South Caldwell on the 14th. As for Alexander Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 56-54 defeat against Freedom on the 14th.
