Basketball Recap: Wabash Apaches vs. Marion Giants
Wabash extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 5-12. They were beaten by the Marion Giants 85-41. The Apaches were not able to make up for their loss to the Giants from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why Wabash lost, don't look at Noah Baldwin. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-10 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. Treyce Daughtry was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to six boards and four steals.
As for Marion, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Marion had a senior duo take command as Tim Jones shot 80% from the field en route to 19 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds and Jace Freshwater went 8-for-12 to rack up 23 points. The Giants are 2-1 when Freshwater posts 15 or more points, but 3-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamarion Anderson, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 11 points.
Wabash wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-48 defeat against Frankton on the 10th. As for Marion, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-47 loss against Warsaw on the 10th.
