Softball Recap: Gull Lake Blue Devils vs. Otsego Bulldogs
Gull Lake had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-7 to make it nine. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Otsego Bulldogs. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.
As for Otsego, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.
For Otsego's part, Audrey Lingbeek was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Lingbeek has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Otsego let Cassie Holland and Alyvia Farrell run wild. Holland went 2-for-3 with one run and one double, while Farrell went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mariah Weaver, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
While Gull Lake had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
