Softball Recap: Gouverneur's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Gouverneur had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Ogdensburg Free Academy Blue Devils. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly five runs.

Renisa Richards spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Arianna Wood was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alice Idzenga, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Gouverneur pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Gouverneur will venture away from home to take on Carthage at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ogdensburg Free Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
