Preview: Western Beaver Golden Beavers vs. Serra Catholic Eagles
The Western Beaver Golden Beavers will square off against the Serra Catholic Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Western Beaver will be strutting in after a victory while Serra Catholic will be coming in after a loss.
Western Beaver can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. Everything went their way against Beaver Falls as Western Beaver made off with a 26-6 victory.
Western Beaver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyson Florence, who rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Serra Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Steel Valley 54-14. While losing is never fun, Serra Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 348th, while Steel Valley is ranked 165th).
Although Serra Catholic took the loss, they still got scores from Mason Jones and De'reon Washington.
Western Beaver's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-4. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Beaver Falls, New Brighton, and Riverside. As for Serra Catholic, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Western Beaver and Serra Catholic have no problem gaining yardage. Western Beaver has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 353.4 total yards per game. However, it's not like Serra Catholic struggles in that department as they've been even better at 374.6 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
