Monterey hasn't had much luck against Watertown recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Monterey Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Watertown Purple Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Monterey's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Watertown's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Monterey barely beat White County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Monterey put the hurt on White County with a sharp 13-3 win on Tuesday. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Haylee Garthwait was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Garthwait was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

Abigail Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Wood, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

The victory got Monterey back to even at 2-2-1. As for Watertown, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
