Baseball Recap: Mulberry Takes a Loss

Mulberry lost against Lakeland Christian back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mulberry Panthers fell just short of the Lakeland Christian Vikings by a score of 3-2. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Gavin Stedman was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Stedman wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brock Thielen, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Mulberry's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Lakeland Christian, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mulberry will be taking part in a tournament against Lakeland Christian at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Lakeland Christian, they will challenge IMG Academy Black at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. IMG Academy Black will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Lakeland Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
