Two must be Master's Academy's lucky number: they beat Merritt Island Christian with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Patriots didn't even let the Cougars on the board, marking the Patriots' second-straight 2-0 shutout. The Patriots' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four matchups.

Merritt Island Christian's batters probably weren't too happy with Nate Downey, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (he gave up three walks). Downey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Master's Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JT McLaughlin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Master's Academy's victory bumped their record up to 20-8. As for Merritt Island Christian, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-10.

Master's Academy has already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Brito on the 21st. Hopefully Merritt Island Christian paid attention to the Patriots' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
