Basketball Recap: Andrews Comes Up Short

Andrews lost against Kingstree last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Andrews Yellowjackets took a blow against the Kingstree Blazers, falling 59-16. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-8.

Camaria Gibson was Andrews' leading scorer, having posted 11 points. Gibson also led the team in rebounds with five.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kingstree to victory, but perhaps none more so than Naydia Shaw, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Shaw is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Demia Mosley was another key player, going 6 of 13 on her way to 18 points along with five assists and five steals.

Andrews' loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Kingstree, their record now sits at 7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andrews will venture away from home to take on Aynor at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kingstree, they will head out to challenge Lake City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kingstree is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.1 points per game this season.
