Baseball Recap: Gate City Comes Up Short

The Gate City Blue Devils came up short against the Greeneville Greene Devils on Friday and fell 11-7.

Brayden Cox was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those home runs were his first of the season.

Gate City's loss dropped their record down to 5-3-1. As for Greeneville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gate City will venture away from home to face off against Dobyns-Bennett at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Greeneville, they will head out to take on Claiborne at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Greene Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
