Perquimans has gone a perfect 8-0 against Tarboro recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Perquimans will square off against Tarboro at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, Perquimans got the win against Bertie by a conclusive 19-3. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Ben Brown was a standout: he scored four runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Askew, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.
Perquimans always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Tarboro hadn't done well against Gates County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Tarboro blew past Gates County 13-3. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their two-run performance the match before.
Cole Craddock made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Stephen Ribustello, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mason Satterfield, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Tarboro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Perquimans' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Perquimans hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Tarboro struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Perquimans' way against Tarboro in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Perquimans made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Perquimans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
