Baseball Game Preview: Kermit Yellow Jackets vs. Anthony Wildcats

The Kermit Yellow Jackets will face off against the Anthony Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kermit is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Kermit is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since February 17th on Friday. They fell just short of Tornillo by a score of 9-7. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kermit saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luis Alvarez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Alvarez has posted since back in March of 2024. Evan Gomez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Anthony hadn't done well against Tornillo recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Anthony came out on top against Tornillo by a score of 11-6. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Kermit now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Anthony, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11-1.

Kermit took their win against Anthony in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 20-9. Will Kermit repeat their success, or does Anthony has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
