Southside extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-13 in the process. They lost 20-1 to the East Carteret Mariners. The Seahawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mariners from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

As for East Carteret, the win keeps they at an undefeated 23-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average this season.

For East Carteret's part, Bryan Hadder made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hadder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Roberson, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and four runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Piner, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

While Southside had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
