Baseball Recap: Nipomo Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Nipomo had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Atascadero Greyhounds by a score of 5-4. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Logan Hobbs was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hobbs was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

Hobbs wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Mendoza, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

The win got Atascadero back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nipomo will square off against Mission College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Atascadero, they will take on Arroyo Grande at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
