Basketball Recap: Holtville's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Holtville hadn't done well against Marbury recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Holtville Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Marbury Bulldogs 55-52. The win was some much needed relief for Holtville as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Despite the loss, Marbury saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jalen Hall posted 18 points. Jamar Brown was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Holtville's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-12. As for Marbury, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-12.

Holtville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 74-35 win against Isabella on the 24th. Marbury has also already played their next game, a 68-64 loss against Wetumpka on the 24th.
