Basketball Recap: Hackleburg Panthers vs. Hubbertville Lions
A victory for Hackleburg just wasn't in the cards on Thursday as the squad wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They were beaten by the Hubbertville Lions 65-37. The Panthers were down 53-30 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Hubbertville was led to victory by Tracee Cowan and Cole Brand. Cowan went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points, while Brand went 7 for 14 en route to 15 points plus eight rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Blaize Wakefield, who earned eight points plus five rebounds.
The win for Hubbertville keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Hackleburg Panthers face off against the Tharptown Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hackleburg is facing Tharptown at the right time seeing as Tharptown is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Hubbertville, they and Brilliant will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
