Baseball Game Preview: Model Patriots vs. Berea Pirates

For the first time this season, Model will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to take on the Berea Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Model lost 15-6 to Western Hills on Monday. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Matthew Gorbett was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Gorbett was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cal Hall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Berea came up short against Barbourville on Friday, falling 12-6.

Nathan Prophitt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Tommie Banderman was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Berea now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Model, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Model couldn't quite finish off Berea in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Model avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
