Football Recap: Sunlake Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Hayes Mcguire and Jayven Williams + How To Watch

Sunlake came into this matchup off a tough 39-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Gulf Buccaneers by a score of 28-25 on Friday. The Seahawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Buccaneers from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Sunlake's loss came despite strong showings from Jayven Williams and Hayes McGuire. Williams gained 75 total yards and two touchdowns, while McGuire threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns. McGuire didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made one tackle.

Gulf was led to victory by Kavion Brown and Curtis Scriven. Brown rushed for 165 yards and one TD while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, while Scriven threw for 141 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Brown was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Sunlake and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Gulf, the victory also got them back to even at 3-3.
