Baseball Recap: Normandy's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Normandy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Valley Forge, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. The Invaders blew past the Patriots 11-1 on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Invaders as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Andrew Sikon was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Normandy is 2-1 when Sikon allows three or fewer hits, but 2-11 otherwise. Sikon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Normandy got a big performance out of Cullen Rooney, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Rooney has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Nick Hinkle, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Normandy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Forge only posted an OBP of .278.

Normandy's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Valley Forge, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Normandy will challenge North Olmsted at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valley Forge, they will face off against Orrville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
