Softball Recap: University Christian Starts Season with Win Against West Port

University Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They never let the West Port Wolf Pack onto the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Christians haven't had any issues with the Wolf Pack recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Dixie Tessier made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sinai Tunsill, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Lydia Smith was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Looking ahead, University Christian will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Crystal River at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Port, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Wildwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
