Baseball Recap: Heritage Takes a Loss

After flying high against Legend on Monday, Heritage came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Highlands Ranch Falcons by a score of 8-7 on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jaden McKinney was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits.

At the plate, James Kellogg made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two doubles. Heritage is 2-1 when Kellogg posts three or more RBI, but 4-13 otherwise. Bode Shoen was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Heritage's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Highlands Ranch, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10.

Coming up, Heritage will face off against Ponderosa at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Highlands Ranch, they will square off against Bear Creek at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
