Baseball Recap: Christian Brothers Continues Home Dominance on Friday

The Cadets took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against the Purple Wave, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Christian Brothers Cadets won by a run and slipped past the Christian Brothers Purple Wave 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cadets have posted since March 21st.

Ryker Williams tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Corde Gage was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

The Cadets' victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for the Purple Wave, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-4.

Coming up, the Cadets will host the Patriots at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cadets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for the Purple Wave, they will venture away from home to take on the Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
