Basketball Recap: Wheatland-Grinnell Triumphs

After losing to Rawlins County the last time they met, Wheatland-Grinnell decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Thunderhawks snuck past the Buffaloes with a 53-48 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunderhawks.

Wheatland-Grinnell can attribute much of their success to Riley Tuttle, who shot 44% from the field to rack up 26 points and eight rebounds. Those 26 points gave Tuttle a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Foster, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Despite the loss, Rawlins County still got an impressive performance from Trey Carlson, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 15 boards. Dominique Paz was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Wheatland-Grinnell's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Rawlins County, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Wheatland-Grinnell will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Quinter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rawlins County, they will challenge Pawnee Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
