Softball Recap: Pittsfield Comes Up Short

If Pittsfield was feeling good fresh off their 14-8 takedown of Mount Greylock Regional on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Generals came up short against the Monument Mountain Spartans on Thursday, falling 11-4. The Generals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Mia Dejesus and Ella Bassi did some serious damage despite the final result: Dejesus went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Bassi went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Bassi's first of the season.

Pittsfield has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Monument Mountain, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Pittsfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monument Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Mount Greylock Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mounties have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
