Baseball Recap: Picayune Find Success

Picayune was forced to take a big defeat against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Long Beach Bearcats by a score of 5-1. This was a revenge game for the Maroon Tide: when they faced off against the Bearcats on Tuesday, they had to take a 7-0 loss.

Colt Robertson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Moreaux, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Parker Helton, who earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Picayune's win bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Long Beach, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-13.

Picayune will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bearcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
